if 2022 postpoem

I just love the practice of response, the space afforded, when you surrender to

experiencing permission, enoughness

supported by music, lyric

the generous structure of pop predictability

allowing for differently relating each time

while familiar, always revealing

layers of beauty within and around.

A tired mother body out of practice needed the barre…costume temperature and waistband malfunction… props and comfort. In anticipation of the aliveness, expansiveness, release that elise’s music inspires

transitions discoveries rememberings

returning 

but with something having gone through

in moments of expansive, ecstatic, bowing, stretching, angel wings opening

knees spine there to catch you when you fall.

Modern dance and ‘griefjoygratitude’ belong
